After making a choice on West Ham United star Declan Rice, Manchester City now wants to sign Gabri Veiga.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester City is interested in signing Gabri Veiga of Celta Vigo after withdrawing from the race to capture Declan Rice of West Ham.
The transfer expert pointed out that the target, who is also wanted by Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea, has a €40 million (£35 million) release clause.
The young Spaniard is preferred by Pep Guardiola’s team over Rice from the Hammers and England, according to Romano.
After pulling out of the Declan Rice deal, Manchester City entered the race for the Spanish talent Gabri Veiga, according to Romano’s tweet.
“He’s one of the options the club is currently considering. Chelsea and Liverpool are still interested, but City is now also aware. Release stipulation: €40m.
West Ham appear to have gone as far as they can in their pursuit of Rice, with their Premier League rivals Arsenal now in the driver’s seat once more after having to compete with the Manchester team.
The Hammers star would surely benefit both teams, but it appears he would lead very different lives at both of them.
Due to the options already available to Guardiola, who is already enhancing his midfielder with Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic, Rice would likely be spending a lot of time on the bench if he made the move to Manchester.
But if Rice were to ultimately sign with the club in North London, boss Mikel Arteta would undoubtedly build his team around the England international.
However, Guardiola might have suddenly discovered a significantly less expensive option in teenage Celta Vigo star Veiga, who could be signed for less than half of what Rice would cost.
