Erik ten Hag is set to promote youngsters Charlie Savage, Maxi Oyedele and Isak Hansen-Aaroen into the club’s first-team training ranks this month
Despite their relatively quiet transfer window up to this point, Manchester United’s roster will look different when they resume first-team training.
Tuesday saw the completion of Mason Mount’s transfer from Chelsea to Old Trafford, with United paying an initial £55 million plus up to $5 million in add-ons. He was the first summer acquisition made by United as manager Erik ten Hag prepared his team for Champions League play.
The Red Devils’ hierarchy and manager Erik ten Hag would always want a number of players to come and go during this important transfer window. However, as was expected, plans have slowed down with little to no work to date due to the uncertainties of the club’s continuing ownership process.
Ten Hag is planning to advance the trio of young players Charlie Savage, Maxi Oyedele, and Isak Hansen-Aaroen to senior training due to a lack of incomings and an abundance of absentees due to extended breaks following international service last month.
The son of Robbie Savage, a Wales Under-21 international, has returned to United after spending time on loan at Forest Green Rovers. Oyedele, a young international from Poland, has returned from Altrincham. Hansen-Aaroen is a talented young player from Norway who played seven times for Tromso’s first squad after making his debut at the age of 15.
Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe left at the end of their contracts while Zidane Iqbal and Ethan Laird both secured permanent exits. Yet there is no shortage of players in the squad whom Ten Hag wants to be moved on in order to refine his squad.
Both Alex Telles and Eric Bailly have returned from loans to Sevilla and Marseille, respectively, however neither player is on Ten Hag’s roster at this time. For Fred, Scott McTominay, Brandon Williams, and club captain Harry Maguire, the door to the club is also open.
The extremely gifted Amad is back following a fruitful loan season at Sunderland, where he scored 14 goals, which is a bonus for Ten Hag. After being on loan at Birmingham, Hannibal Mejbri is also back, but United are attempting to assist his permanent exit since Borussia Dortmund is keen.
Over the upcoming week, United’s training sessions will feature a sizable amount of absences. Those recuperating from chronic injuries include Dean Henderson, Lisandro Martinez, Donny van de Beek, Kobbie Mainoo, and Antony, who won’t be taking part in full training.
Furthermore, due to their involvement in the June international matches, 15 members of the first team won’t resume training until later in the month. Maguire, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Anthony Elanga, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, McTominay, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, Facundo Pellistri, Telles, and Bailly are all on this list.
