According to writer Dean Jones in a recent interview with GIVEMESPORT, Arsenal are unlikely to strengthen at one position this summer.
The Gunners moved quickly during the summer transfer window as they sought to compete for the Premier League championship once more.
Latest Arsenal transfer news
Although Kai Havertz was just revealed as Arsenal’s first summer acquisition, Mikel Arteta seems to have more players in mind for his squad.
According to reports, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber are about to transfer to the Emirates Stadium, bolstering the Gunners’ team at various positions.
Last season, Arsenal gave Manchester City a run for their money, but in the end, Pep Guardiola’s team’s depth made things difficult for the north London club.
Arsenal will need reinforcements if they want to compete with the recent treble-winning team.
Mehdi Taremi of Porto is another player who has been mentioned in connection with a transfer to Arsenal.
Arsenal is reportedly interested in signing Taremi, who the Portuguese club is thought to value at approximately £17 million, according to reports in Portugal (via TEAMTALK).
The 30-year-old, who Rio Ferdinand called “insane,” has scored goals consistently for his whole career, but he doesn’t exactly suit the type of player Arsenal typically seeks to sign.
Younger, up-and-coming talent has been the main focus of Edu Gaspar and Arteta’s recruitment strategy, and it seems to be succeeding thus far.
What has Jones stated regarding Taremi and Arsenal?
Jones claims he hasn’t heard anything regarding Arsenal’s interest in Taremi, but he doesn’t think the north London club is looking to sign someone in Taremi’s type of position.
He stated, “Yeah, I mean, Mehdi Taremi is now being associated with a lot of clubs,” in a statement to GIVEMESPORT. Whenever that occurs, I always have a small amount of trepidation about if he is only getting promoted and the significance of it.
“I haven’t heard much about Arsenal’s actual interest in this one. According to what I’ve been informed, a forward in this mould isn’t exactly on anyone’s radar right now.
What will Arsenal do next?
Arteta hasn’t played about in the early parts of the transfer window, as was already mentioned, and more arrivals are anticipated at the Emirates.
Ryan Taylor, a journalist with the Daily Express, recently told GIVEMESPORT that he anticipates Arsenal to add another midfielder after the announcement of Rice.
Taylor continues, “And with Granit Xhaka already out the door, it makes sense to recruit another body in the middle of the park,” adding that he anticipates Thomas Partey to leave.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has also revealed to GIVEMESPORT that Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo is a player appreciated by Arsenal.
Once the signings of Rice and Timber are confirmed, it wouldn’t be a surprise if business slows down a little.
The two aforementioned players, plus Havertz, were clearly the priority players, and we could see a focus on outgoings in order to offload some deadwood.
