The likelihood that Manchester City will win the Premier League championship again the following year has been discussed by Frank Leboeuf.
At the conclusion of their previous season, when they ultimately won 28 of their 38 games in the division, the Citizens won their fifth Premier League championship in six years.
One former top-flight player has spoken on the chances of seeing City win the Premier League title again next year as the treble winners prepare to start their preseason session next week.
Leboeuf evaluates City’s prospects of winning the championship.
Leboeuf gave this response in response to a question about the likelihood of City winning the title again in a recent interview posted to the ESPN FC YouTube channel.
He stated: “They are terrific, but they have to fight. They have to be at 100% to beat any other club.
The beauty of the Premier League is that if you don’t give 100%, you’re going to be very badly surprised, and that’s what it is. They had to struggle against Arsenal to finish first, they lost several games against opponents, and they really have to be spot on otherwise they are matched.
“I would say if they play 100% every time, there is no chance for anybody, but because they’re human beings, I would say 70%, 80%.”
It’s safe to say that Pep Guardiola’s team will be the favourites to win the title again next season after also winning the FA Cup and the Champions League following their Premier League triumph last season. They also scored more goals (94) than any other team in the division and allowed the joint-fewest number of goals (33) to be scored against them.
Since the end of the season, the Citizens’ roster has undergone some changes, including the departure of Ilkay Gundogan and the addition of Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea.
The Manchester club will undoubtedly have a difficult task ahead of them and will need to make sure they perform as positively and consistently as they can if they want to win back their three titles from the previous season and perhaps go even further and win the Carabao Cup.
