A few Manchester United supporters who had insisted on getting a signed shirt from the new signing were ordered to “stop chasing him” by Mason Mount.
A video that was shared on Twitter on Friday at 11:28 a.m. (BST) shows two fans pursuing Mount, who is sporting Manchester United training attire and is toting a bag.
The supporters cry encouragement to the English international, “Come on Mason,” and “Come on bro,” but Mount rejects their plea and then snaps at his adoring crowd, “I don’t know why you guys keep coming back. I haven’t signed one for the previous three days.”
It’s the first time I’ve come here, one supporter immediately defended himself.
What was the response to the Mason Mount video?
After the publication of this video, other Manchester United supporters supported their team’s recent acquisition from Chelsea, tweeting: “They’re not United fans, they’ve been pestering him taking the p***. Glad he held out,” and “Following a player for three consecutive days of unemployment is a different level of joblessness.”
While others questioned the loyalty of the supporters that approached Mount, claiming that “He knows they aren’t fans they are just selling them on that’s why he refused” and “They are the resellers that players get instructed not to sign shirts for,” others praised the fans’ loyalty.
As ever in these scenarios, there was a minority of Chelsea followers that saw this as the perfect opportunity to have a jibe at their former player.

“So much arrogance. Who’s going to tell him that he’s bang average,” and “Mount is a disgrace” were just two tweets from Blues fans.
A supporter of Mount’s new team responded angrily to the former tweet, saying, “It’s not arrogant lmao these grown men are simply using him to sell the shirts on, he’s literally outnumbered in the video too with no security.”
Mount made his Manchester United debut in a 2-0 win over rival Leeds United on Wednesday in Oslo, Norway. Mount joined the club just last Wednesday after spending 18 years with the west Londoners.
On MUTV, Mount discussed his performance after the friendly victory, saying, “We’ve been working really hard (in training), so it’s fantastic to now put it into practice and play on the pitch.” The first week is primarily dedicated to getting the legs moving again and increasing leg distance through running.
But before to this game, we have undoubtedly been developing a few strategies. I obviously have a solid understanding of the manager’s priorities and the players’ styles of play.
We all had a difficult week, but it’s wonderful to have those 45 minutes left in the tank.
“Today’s deeper midfield position) was a role I truly appreciated. Being able to drop in, collect the ball, and initiate the action from a little deeper, while yet having the freedom to advance and into the box.
Also complimentary of Mount’s first outing in a Red Devils jersey was his new boss Erik ten Hag: “Ah terrific, first time, but we could expect this [level of performance].
“I think for him, it’s only his first because he has so many skills, and I know we will take so much pleasure from him, and he will contribute to our performance, without a doubt.”
