After moving from Inter Milan to Manchester United, Andre Onana acknowledged that he is “very excited” to start working.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper put an end to weeks of rumors about his future by concluding a £47.1 million deal from Inter earlier this week.
Having previously worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax, the 27-year-old signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils, with an option for an additional year.
Onana flew to New Jersey to join the Red Devils on their pre-season tour of America, and he has already gotten to know his new teammates and started working out.
The Cameroonian said it is a “big honor” to play for the club in an exclusive sneak preview interview with the club.
“I’m grateful. How giddy am I? I’m extremely happy. It’s a huge honor for me. For me, it’s a huge honor to be a part of this vast family and club, Onana remarked.
I’m extremely happy. I’m content, and you know what? I’m incredibly motivated and eager to play for Manchester United.
The former Inter Milan No. 1 might make his Red Devils debut against Arsenal on Saturday night after participating in training this week.
As part of the Premier League Summer Series, the two titans of the Premier League will square off in New Jersey.
The gap between the posts left by De Gea appears to be filled by United’s new star goalkeeper. The Spaniard left Old Trafford at the end of June after serving the team for 12 years.

The goalkeeper admitted that the possibility to play in the Premier League was attractive before finalizing his move to Old Trafford.
The former Ajax goalkeeper remarked, “The important thing is, to be honest and always tell people the truth.” “I am a person who seeks out fresh challenges constantly.
It is “irresistible” to play for a team like United in the Premier League. It was desired by all parties.
The important thing to remember is that even if I had stayed, I would have been content because I never encountered issues at Inter. It’s true that Milan gave birth to a kind of magic that is virtually impossible to explain.
‘Being picked to continue this history makes me happy and responsible: I want to win trophies with my new colleagues,’ Onana said in response to a question on how he felt about following in the footsteps of legendary Man United goalkeepers like Peter Schmeichel, Edwin van de Sar, and David de Gea.
The Red Devils’ opening match of the 2023–24 season against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, August 14, might be Onana’s first competitive appearance.
