This summer, Bernardo Silva of Man City is still a target for Barcelona, according to TEAMtalk.
Sllva has been requesting to leave City for more than a year and has once more expressed his desire for the club to grant him his wish to depart.
Given that Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan have already left, City is hesitant to allow the Portuguese to go. As a result, according to what we understand, Pep Guardiola’s team gave the 28-year-old a substantial raise in salary.
Barcelona is interested in Silva but hasn’t been able to put together a deal that would even come close to City’s £75m–£80m valuation.
However, if Barcelona decides to continue forward with a transfer, they may still be able to raise the money necessary to appease the Spanish football authorities thanks to the prospective sale of Ousmane Dembele.
The €50 million deal of the 26-year-old France international to PSG is anticipated to be finalized soon.
Dembele has already stated that he has accepted this offer and that he has made up his mind to leave, and Barca manager Xavi has since confirmed the transfer will take place. He makes his own decisions.
Barcelona will be better equipped to assess Man City’s commitment to Silva after the deal with Dembele is finalized.
Having already sold Mahrez to Al Ahli for £30 million, losing the Portuguese would be a difficult pill for Guardiola to swallow.
Although Silva frequently received the start against the hardest opponents, Mahrez was Guardiola’s first choice on the right wing last season.
Michael Olise of Crystal Palace and winger Jeremy Doku of Rennes are two candidates City are hovering around as they look to replace Mahrez.
A second addition might be required if Silva left as well.
