As the Premier League club works on selling players before moving for Sofyan Amrabat, it appears that Manchester United’s hesitation in making a trade for him could backfire.
When Sportmediaset reported that the Moroccan international would “prefer Juventus” to a move to Old Trafford on Wednesday, Firenze Viola picked up on the implication.
That may be due to the fact that the offer from Manchester United is “taking its time to arrive,” and if he doesn’t have the chance to move to England, he would be “happy to remain in Serie A.”
Not the best of news for Old Trafford supporters, especially following suggestions on Tuesday that a transfer might happen shortly once they released Harry Maguire and a midfielder.
Amrabat has been linked to United for a while, and there has been a lot of optimism that an offer will be made. However, according to Labaro Viola’s relay of Alfredo Pedullà’s comments to Passione Fiorentina on Twitch, patience is required.
After the sales are completed, it is anticipated that United would focus on making other signings while having extra money in their account to ensure they don’t violate any FFP regulations.
When asked about the future of Amrabat and a potential transfer to Old Trafford, Pedullà was unequivocal on this point.
In order to push their bid for Amrabat, who is awaiting the Red Devils, he said: “United are concluding a few of sales. The sale of Van de Beek, Fred, Maguire, or McTominay by United might net them the €50–60 million necessary to complete Amrabat’s transfer.
Juventus may possibly be interested, he continued, but for the time being, they have other matters to attend to and aren’t really a threat to Manchester United.
“I just know that Ten Hag had Onana as a priority, and they got him,” Pedullà concluded. Amrabat and Todibo are now the top priorities for the defensive after they did the same to Hjlund. Amrabat and I have a pay agreement, that much is certain. They must now sell. They will spend $30-35 million on the Moroccan midfielder if they can obtain €60 million.
