After finishing their schedule of friendlies with a 3-1 victory over Darmstadt, the Reds were given a break but returned to Kirkby for midweek.
It was a mixed practice for the team in the summer heat before their travel to Chelsea to start the Premier League season.
The majority of Jurgen Klopp’s team was made up of players that participated in the preseason, however, Luke Chambers joined the first team.
Due to loan interest from Bayer Leverkusen and Watford, Chambers had missed the entire preseason for both the senior team and the under-21 team.
But on Wednesday, Kostas Tsimikas and Bobby Clark were seen warming up with the adaptable defender.
Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic, who has been out for a while due to injury, were also a member of the team.
The 10 outfielders who began against Darmstadt were recovering on the second day, playing head tennis separately from the rest of the team.
They are all expected to start on Sunday: Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota.
There was another positive in the involvement of Curtis Jones, who went into the win over Darmstadt with a knock but appears to have shaken that off.
The youths Clark, Ben Doak, Jarell Quansah, James McConnell, and Calum Scanlon who traveled to Germany, Singapore, and Preston during the preseason were among those that were kept.
When the U21s defeated Hull 5-0 on Friday, Vitezslav Jaros and Marcelo Pitaluga, who were both dropped from the Singapore tour, returned to the goalkeeping ranks.
Though Darwin Nunez wasn’t present, it is hoped that there are no fresh injury concerns as we approach Stamford Bridge.
However, it must be emphasized that the Uruguayan might simply have taken a quick break from the group or been attending an individual program elsewhere.
Due to a minor injury, Conor Bradley has not been a member of the team since the training camp in Germany. He is still out.
