Mason Greenwood is still in the dark about what will happen to him. The Crown Prosecution Service dismissed the charges against him earlier this year.
Following that, Manchester United began an internal inquiry, which is still ongoing.
This was supposed to be finished by the start of the season, but things keep taking longer.
Mason Greenwood and Colette Roche
Colette Roche, the chief operating officer of Manchester United, discussed the Mason Greenwood situation with The Athletic.
The investigation’s conclusion has not yet been made public. Roche was emphatic in stating that Manchester United, and not any outside organization or sponsor, will make the choice.
“We’ve conducted a pretty in-depth internal inquiry, and we’ve spoken to as many people as we can about what happened in an effort to comprehend it beyond the scope of the first police investigation,” she added.
“You’d expect us to engage with people who were relevant in terms of stakeholder groups. And now we just need to make the decision. That decision is firmly a decision that’s on us.”
There has not yet been a decision made.
According to the investigation, United appears to have the necessary knowledge and is now distraught with the outcome.
The options include letting Greenwood go, selling him, loaning him, or bringing him back into the starting lineup. His agreement is expected to last until 2025.
The women’s team members were unintentionally targeted on social media last week after the BBC reported that United would consult with them about the problem.
Roche’s remarks, however, make it obvious that the choice will be made solely by the senior members of Manchester United.
