Szoboszlai has so far shown reluctant to shoot in front of goal in his first matches with Liverpool, passing when a shot could have been a better choice.
A classic example was a chance for a magnificent half-volley in the opening 1-1 draw against Chelsea, while Diogo Jota’s goal came from an attempt in the 3-1 triumph over Bournemouth.
However, Hungary manager Marco Rossi thinks “nobody will complain” when Szoboszlai begins to fire on sight.
Rossi told Liverpool.com’s Ben Bocsak, “I think he will need to start shooting more in England because I don’t think anyone can complain if Dominik shoots with his right or left foot.”
“Nobody will be able to complain when he decides to shoot.
He is very, very strong. He undoubtedly had and continues to have some weaknesses, but he is actively attempting to eliminate and improve them.
“His shooting is without a doubt his strongest talent.
“I’ve been playing football for more than 50 years, and I can’t think of more than five players in the last 50 years who have a shot like him or are better than him,” the commenter said.
Rossi is only 58 years old, so that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it is obvious that Szoboszlai has a special talent in front of goals.
His predecessor, Jordan Henderson, scored 33 goals in 492 games for the club, but Liverpool has lacked it recently from the middle.
Rossi might have been referring to Steven Gerrard, who has a tattoo of his words on the new No. 8’s arm.
Rossi stated, “I hope he can continue Steven Gerrard’s early chapters of his career, obviously with different qualities.
But he will do a tremendous job if he can win the hearts of the Liverpool supporters in the same manner as Gerrard.
Of course, he still has room for improvement and learning from his coach and squad.
“But if he can avoid any physical issues, as injuries in football can happen at any time, I think we will hear his name a lot more in the coming years,” said the analyst.
