Alejandro Garnacho won’t play against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, according to manager Erik ten Hag of Manchester United.
Garnacho last appeared for the Red Devils in a 0-0 draw with Southampton at Old Trafford in March, when he was substituted.
The Argentine had missed nine games in the previous six weeks, but he teased a comeback a few days ago by posting a photo of himself in football boots.
The Peoples Person reported on a story of Garnacho being seen in Cheshire sans crutches.
Garnacho made a clear indication that he had rejoined his teammates in the gym.
Prior to the match against Tottenham, Ten Hag told the club media that the 18-year-old was back on the pitch, but that the match on Thursday was too soon for him.
Garnacho is back on the pitch, but the United manager stated that he is not yet prepared for tomorrow’s match.
Sam Pilger of Forbes reported that Garnacho stands a good chance of sitting the bench when United take on Aston Villa on Sunday.
There is still a chance, according to Pilger, that he will be healthy enough to be placed on the replacements’ bench for Sunday’s matchup between United and Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
Undoubtedly, Garnacho’s comeback is a tremendous relief for Ten Hag, who has had to deal with numerous first-team star layoffs.
There are worries the winger won’t play in the June 3 FA Cup final between United and Manchester City.
The United player was selected for Argentina’s preliminary U20 World Cup team. Garnacho wants to play for the Albiceleste, but United are sure that they won’t release him.
