The notorious agent of Yaya Toure has removed the curse that he had previously asked to be placed on Pep Guardiola to prevent him from winning the Champions League.
After calling on African shamans to put a hex on Guardiola and having a public falling out with him over how he treated Toure, Dimitri Seluk, a Monaco-based advisor, prophesied in 2018 that Guardiola would not add to the two European titles he had already won with Barcelona with Manchester City.
The Russian has since requested that the curse be lifted, making a surprise U-turn just in time for City’s semifinal matchup against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.
“I want to apologize for this matter,” Seluk remarked.
“I believe it is time for this animosity to end, and I know Yaya feels the same way since he only wants City to succeed, in my opinion.
“I can confirm that the shamans have now broken the curse, and I believe Pep will lead City to the Champions League title.
“This year, they stand an excellent chance of winning. However, they will undoubtedly succeed in the next three years, regardless of what occurs.
“Remember the time I scolded City for failing to celebrate Yaya’s birthday with a cake?
“Well, this month is my birthday, and I want this curse to be broken as my present. In fact, I’m rooting for City to take home the Triple this year.
Toure, who is currently 39 years old and a Tottenham academy coach, ought to go down in history as one of City’s finest players.
After receiving his third medal for the Premier League championship, the Ivorian midfielder left the Etihad in the summer of 2018. Guardiola and Seluk had a tense relationship, but Seluk’s criticism of the City manager made things worse.
And within a month of Toure leaving the team, there were unsubstantiated claims that Guardiola disliked black players, which were followed by Seluk’s admission that angry African shamans had cursed the Blues.
Toure later apologized for his remarks, calling them a “mistake,” but City has continued to lose in the Champions League while being the most successful team domestically.
Despite having a 5-3 aggregate lead heading into the final minute of the second leg, they were eliminated by Real in the semi-finals of the previous season and lost to Chelsea in the final of 2021.
It was my duty as Yaya’s agent to stand up for and attempt to protect my client, Seluk stated.
“In my opinion, he was the club’s first great acquisition following Sheikh Mansour’s purchase. However, what I said about Pep being cursed has led to unnecessary and additional resentment.
“It’s gotten to the point where people think I’m Nostradamus of football!” I can’t see into the future, but I think Pep and Manchester City will win the Champions League.
“I’m contacting you ahead of our match against Madrid to let you know that I fully support everyone at the club and their supporters.”
