Ally McCoist, a former striker who is now a commentator, has pushed Declan Rice to choose Arsenal over Manchester United this summer.
Prior to the summer transfer window, the 24-year-old has received significant attention from several clubs. The midfielder reportedly wants to participate in the Champions League the next year in order to advance in his career.
It has been widely known that Arsenal has made improving its engine room a priority for the off-season and has identified Rice as the main target. Man United may also have a real interest in acquiring the West Ham player, it has been reported.
It would appear that the Red Devils would provide fierce competition for the Gunners in securing any prospective deal for the England international.
But in a talkSport interview, McCoist advised Rice to reject Man Utd and sign with Arsenal instead since, in his opinion, the Gunners are currently much further along in their rebuild than the Red Devils are after fighting for the league title this season.
McCoist said:
“If I’m Declan Rice and I’m weighing up my options, I’d rather go to Arsenal than Manchester United. Man Utd look like they’re 4/5 players behind Man City. Arsenal can get nearer.”
To Arsenal, Rice
Rumour has it that following the Hammers’ match against Fiorentina in the Conference League Final, Arsenal will make the first offer to sign Rice.
According to rumours, Mikel Arteta’s team will make an offer of £92 million to buy the England international. However, West Ham has often stated that they are seeking at least £100 million for their star player.
Consequently, it will be intriguing to watch whether David Moyes’ team chooses to accept the Gunners’ opening offer or not. If West Ham maintains their stance on their asking price for Rice, it will be challenging for the North London club to sign the 24-year-old should they do so. It has been alleged that Arsenal does not want to match West Ham’s asking price.
Over the past few years, Rice has already demonstrated his talent in the Premier League and on a global scale. So, if Arsenal were able to get him this summer, it would be a huge victory.
It will be intriguing to watch if Arsenal is ultimately successful in acquiring Rice during the upcoming transfer window to bolster their engine room.
