Marcus Rashford did not require to see any more after Manchester City’s Champions League victory, which sealed their treble, was announced as the winner. The TV was turned off.
When his hometown was drenched in blue on Monday, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford will have been glad to have been at England’s St George’s Park training camp, tucked away in the Burton-on-Trent countryside.
The boyhood United supporter, who has 30 goals for his side this season, is not resentful and made a commitment to Gareth Southgate’s squad on Tuesday night to applaud his English teammates who play for City.
However, it would have been too much to witness City raise the trophy that matched United’s triple from 1999 or the festivities that followed.
“I watched the game at a friend’s house,” Rashford claimed. I enjoyed watching the finest games since I enjoy watching football. But after that, I didn’t need to see them enjoy themselves; the TV was turned off.
Rashford replied, “For me, certainly because I am here with the national team, I was able to shut out the City celebrations and trophy procession in Manchester. I don’t want to be preoccupied with what’s happening in Manchester.
Rashford, a member of the United team that City defeated in the FA Cup final en route to their treble, acknowledged that it is now up to the Old Trafford team to catch up to their competitors.
Rashford remarked, “It’s not nice, but it’s football. The most trophies will be won by the best team that has consistently played the best football. Well done to them; we’ll simply go on now. They managed to win three this year. The rest of us must catch up to them.
They played the finest football this year, so in my opinion, they deserved to win. Not much else needs to be said. They did exceptionally well this year, and the talking was done on the pitch.
Before the United players split up for the summer, Rashford said there was a brief post-FA Cup final inquest at Wembley.
Rashford stated, “We had a little conversation in the changing room and maybe we have to brush ourselves off and get ready for next season. We can’t change it, so we don’t have time to linger on it. We gave our all during the pitch, and moving forward is simpler when you have given your everything. We proceed and get ready for the upcoming season.
When asked if City’s success provides him more incentive, Rashford answered, “Yes.” Regardless of City’s success this year or in prior years, he continued, “That was always the ambition [to be at the top with United].
