From Star to Legend: Joleon Lescott Believes Man City Player is Destined for Greatness
Phil Foden will go down in history as one of the greatest English players, according to Joleon Lescott.
The 23-year-old, who made his Premier League debut in December 2017, is presently training for his sixth season with Pep Guardiola’s squad.
A former City player has heaped high accolades on the winger after he won his fifth Premier League championship, second FA Cup, and first Champions League trophy at the close of the previous campaign.
Lescott gushes over Foden
Lescott had the following to say about Foden during a recent livestream on the team’s official YouTube channel.
“Phil is someone I truly enjoy to see play,” he declared. I hate to say it, but despite how passionate he is about the game, I believe we significantly underrate his talent.
He is among the best players England has ever produced, along with Phil Foden, who is also of the highest caliber. Simply put, it is a joy to claim that he is connected to Man City.
The winger has made 217 senior appearances, and in all competitions, he has contributed 41 assists and 60 goals for the Manchester club.
Lescott is a great fan of the player and believes that if he continues to perform well and win titles at City, he might be considered one of England’s best players. The fact that the player has played so many games for the club after rising through their development systems at such a young age supports this belief.
The fact that the England international scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 48 appearances last season demonstrates both how crucial he is to Guardiola and how efficient he can be when called upon to score.
In the forthcoming season, Riyad Mahrez’s departure from City to join Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia may provide Foden the opportunity to establish himself as a regular starter rather than fluctuate in and out of the lineup as he did in the previous one.
