Tyler Adams, a midfielder for Leeds United and the captain of the United States, reportedly has a £20 million release clause that Chelsea has triggered.
The 24-year-old signed with Leeds in the summer of last year and stood out as the team was demoted from the Premier League. He suffered an injury that caused him to miss the Whites’ aspirations of making the playoffs by missing the final 12 games of the league season.
As Adams gets ready for this medical with the London club, Fabrizio Romano writes that Chelsea has agreed to pay a £20 million relegation clause and that a deal has been made about personal terms.
Adams was present at Elland Road on Sunday as Leeds drew 2-2 with Cardiff City to begin their Championship season. Due to his ailment, which has kept him sidelined since March, he did not play.
He began his professional career with New York Red Bulls before transferring to RB Leipzig in 2019. He joined Leeds for £20 million last summer and has earned 36 USA caps.
Adams will soon be acquired by Chelsea, who on Wednesday night submitted a £48 million offer for Roméo Lavia. As a result, Chelsea will now have to compete with Liverpool for Moisés Caicedo after the Reds made an outrageous offer for the Brighton midfielder on Thursday.
According to The Telegraph, the Reds’ bid for Caicedo is higher than Chelsea’s previous £80 million offer. Since Declan Rice joined Arsenal for £105 million, it is said that Brighton is asking for £100 million for the midfielder.
The World Cup champion Alexis MacAllister was purchased for £35 million by Liverpool and Brighton, and James Milner, who had been released by Liverpool, moved to the south coast club on a one-year contract.
Caicedo reportedly prefers a transfer to Stamford Bridge, keeping Chelsea in the running as they strive to improve their midfield even more.
