Erling Haaland, a striker for Manchester City, scored twice in the champions’ rout of newly promoted Burnley at Turf Moor to start the 2018 Premier League campaign off quickly.
Haaland, who scored 52 goals overall and a Premier League season-high 36 goals for treble winners City last season, put his team ahead after four minutes.
The only blemish on City’s record was a first-half injury to Kevin de Bruyne, who was forced off due to a superb finish by the Norwegian in the 36th minute.
After 75 minutes, Rodri scored City’s third goal from close range to send Burnley, led by former City captain Vincent Kompany, back to the Championship with a humiliating defeat.
Burnley’s agony was made even worse when replacement Anass Zaroury was sent in stoppage time for a brutal hit on Kyle Walker.
