Mason Greenwood, a forward for Manchester United, was seen working out in a public park earlier this month after a turbulent few months. The young man from England has been sidelined since his arrest in January of last year on suspicion of attempted rape, assault, and coercive control. Despite the fact that he had criminal charges against him dropped in February of this year, Greenwood has still not been given the go-ahead to resume playing in competitive games. Despite recently claiming that their own investigation into the matter is over, Manchester United has not yet decided what will happen to Greenwood. The Premier League team also disclosed that a decision on the future of the 21-year-old is now being considered.

“Our investigation’s fact-finding phase is now complete, and we are nearing the decision-making stage regarding Mason’s future. Contrary to what the media has reported, that choice has not yet been made and is the subject of extensive internal discussion. The Chief Executive Officer is ultimately responsible, according to a statement released by Manchester United.
“Once a decision is reached, it will be relayed to the club’s internal and external stakeholders and explained. Everyone connected to Manchester United has found this to be a challenging matter, and we can appreciate the strong feelings it has sparked based on the limited information that is publicly available. As we complete the last steps of this meticulous process, we kindly ask for your patience, the statement continued.
Prior to the new season, Manchester United was supposed to find a solution to the Greenwood issue. The administration of the squad is still in communication with the stakeholders, the women’s team, and a fan advisory board, thus the decision-making process is taking longer than expected.
Despite the fact that Greenwood is still bound to Manchester United, a number of teams have expressed an interest in signing the teenage forward. Goal reported that Manchester United had already thought about sending Greenwood out on loan. There were apparently a lot of clubs in Italy and Turkey interested in him. It was widely rumored that current Roma manager and former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho thought about sending Greenwood on loan to the Italian team.
In January 2022, Greenwood faced off against West Ham in his final competitive game. In that match, the Hammers were defeated by one goal to none. In the second leg of a Champions League matchup against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in March 2019, Greenwood made his Manchester United debut. Greenwood has played 129 times for Manchester United and has 35 goals to his credit. Greenwood scored the earliest goal ever for Manchester United in the European competition in September 2019. In February 2021, Greenwood extended his stay at Manchester United by signing a new deal. In 2025, the terms of his current Manchester United contract will expire.
