At Manchester United, Antony is becoming a pretty frustrating player. He joined Old Trafford for a record £80 million from Ajax, and despite earning £150,000 per week there, he hasn’t quite lived up to the hype.
Coming into this season, he was the subject of high expectations. He has now had a full year to settle, and he ought to be adequately defending his asking price.
But it’s becoming evident after the first two games that nothing has actually changed.
Antony is a one-dimensional character.
The fluidity of our attacks is being completely destroyed by Antony’s one-footed play, which we don’t believe we’ve ever seen before.
We are becoming too predictable since he always has to cut to the left. He has so far been ineffective against Tottenham and Wolves.
Some athletes can get away with playing one-footed. One that comes to mind is Arjen Robben, but he was so talented that he could get away with it with ease; tragically, Antony doesn’t even have that capability.
He is discouraged because there is skill there, obviously. However, we believe dropping him is what’s required. He needs to be aware that he can be replaced, and hopefully, that will inspire him.
Our selection is Pellistri.

But who will take his place? Facundo Pellistri merits a chance, in our opinion.
There is definitely no danger in giving the Uruguayan a go right away because he has already displayed flashes of brilliance in the brief cameos Erik ten Hag has given him.
Pellistri will be eager to establish himself at Old Trafford but hasn’t really had the opportunity.
During international breaks and even during preseason, he has displayed his class, particularly against Bilbao, where he was “extremely good.”
Try it; it won’t harm you, right?
