Gabriel Magalhaes’ season has gotten off to an odd start.
FEATURED VIDEO
The Brazilian defender, who started every game for Arsenal last season, started this year’s campaign on the bench for the first three matches.
But against Manchester United, he triumphantly made his way back into the starting lineup, and according to Kevin Campbell on The Gooners Pod, the defender shouldn’t be benched again this year.
Campbell claims he wants Gabriel and William Saliba to start each and every game for Arsenal this year.
Gabriel must begin.
Campbell discussed the Brazilian.
“We haven’t played nearly as well as we can. I want Gabriel and Saliba to participate in each game. Mikel Arteta is aware that you can avoid playing Gabriel against some opponents, and I’m sure there will be instances when Saliba is benched, Campbell remarked.
Strongest eleven
Gabriel is a member of Arsenal’s starting lineup, thus Campbell is right on the money when he says that he should start every game.
Of course, we live in an age where rotation is important, especially when there’s Champions League football to be played at the Emirates this season, but it’s tough to justify ever dropping Gabriel in the way he was at the start of the season.
We’re not sure why Gabriel didn’t play at the beginning of this campaign, but we can only hope that this situation is resolved and that the £25m man will be in the team on a weekly basis from now on.
