The manager of Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino, thinks his young team may contain the replacements for John Terry and Frank Lampard. The Blues spent a lot of money on players like Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Christopher Nkunku during the summer transfer window, but they haven’t yet found their groove under new manager Pochettino.
With none of their 12 recruits being older than 25, and five of them being teens, the Blues have been making plans for the future. Chelsea’s youthful players have lost their first four games, falling to West Ham and Nottingham Forest.
Pochettino claims that even if his team may include the next Lampard and Terry, they still need time to mature. In comparison to his past employment at Tottenham and Southampton, he views this endeavor as unique. Asmir Begovic, a former goalkeeper for the Blues, criticized Pochettino, claiming that his squad lacked any players of the highest caliber in the world. “That is a different project,” responded Pochettino. A distinct situation.
We are unable to compare the present to the past. It’s unfair, in my opinion. A different Chelsea is present. Perhaps Lampard, Terry, or Drogba have potential now, but they are still very young. They must demonstrate that they have this capacity. In the past, Chelsea has prioritized winning. Since winning is still the focus at Chelsea, we must speed up every step.
But compared to before, the procedure is different. due to the club’s unique methodology and attitude. Our team is young. We have players with great talent, but they need time to develop. We must be mindful of our development and evolution.
The former Argentina international claims that Pochettino wanted his youthful team to play with greater aggression, something he had when he was a less skilled player. “I was the worst,” he said, “truly, really wicked! I was the most competitive, but I lacked the qualities our squad possesses.
They are considerably better at quality than I am, yet (head tap) I was stronger than them here. This concept needs to be translated. We always make fun of that. We are performing well, and we can win games. However, we must act naughtier and more aggressively.
But it’s positively; it’s not to kill or punch someone. Not that we are overly kind, mind you. But we have to be more competitive. It takes more than just natural talent to be able to handle a game.
