Prior to their return to Stamford Bridge this weekend, Mikel Arteta believes that Kai Havertz and Jorginho, two of the top players for Arsenal, have been positive about their time at Chelsea. With more than three points on the line, the Gunners make the quick trip across London to take on their neighborhood rivals.
With two teams that have previously competed for championships over several time periods, there are the bragging rights and sense of pride that come with such an occasion. The Blues, who have won the league title a few times, have received the honor throughout the past ten years or so.
The disparity between Chelsea’s troubles and Arsenal’s return to the top may have changed over the past year, though. Last season, Arteta’s group solidified their status as title contenders, but they tragically missed out on winning the trophy due to eventual champions Manchester City’s unbeatable run of form.
They have added a number of players through transfers in an effort to advance this season and finally claim the championship. In an effort to achieve that, people like Havertz and Jorginho have moved from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are unbeaten and joint-top of the league after their first eight games, but their next test will be Chelsea in the London derby. Due to their connections to the team, the return of Havertz and Jorginho will be a matter of intense discussion.
The two were champions while playing for the Blues, but frequently moving on to compete might leave a sour taste and confusion about such a choice. Despite all of that, both players have shown a favorable impression of their previous team, with Arteta clarifying their comments.
When asked if Havertz was eager to come back, he responded, “And Jorgi [Jorginho] as well. They’ll be [excited] for sure. They were there and have nothing but positive things to say about the club and everyone there. So for them, it will be a special day.
It is unclear how fans will react if they are introduced into the game at any stage, but gaining three more points will undoubtedly be the main priority as they attempt to win the league.
