A fire that occurred during preseason testing in Valencia has been verified by Formula E as having sent one person to the hospital for precautionary procedures.
The championship collaborated with local authorities to put out the fire that broke out at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo behind the Williams Advanced Engineering garage in the middle of the day.
According to reports, Robert Shwartzman’s DS Penske, which stalled out on the track during the morning session, was the culprit. A car battery had apparently been removed from it.
No more casualties have been reported since the pit building was evacuated, and the area has now been closed off while the matter is dealt with.
The 2023–24 preseason test day is today, with more test days scheduled for Wednesday and Friday.
A fire was discovered in the pit lane and garage area during a break between practice sessions, but it has already been put out, according to a Formula E statement.
The main pit building and garages were swiftly evacuated, and the on-track emergency response team moved to contain the situation.
“One person has been examined by medical personnel and taken to a hospital for preventative examinations.
“Formula E, the FIA and local fire authorities are investigating the cause and will provide further update in due course.”
