In the competition’s group stages, the Reds manager has so far given a lot of young players a chance to shine. Actors such as Luke Chambers, James McConnell, and Calum Scanlon have already experienced action.
However, Mateusz Musialowski, a Polish talent, is someone Klopp ought to seriously consider signing after he scored a stunning goal for the U21s last night.
Arriving in 2020, Musialowski has a long history with the academy. The 20-year-old has never played at the senior level, despite the fact that supporters have long considered him to be a “special” player in the making.
Due to alleged bids from Poland, the forward even came close to leaving Liverpool in the summer. But in the end, he stayed, and Musialowski has proven his skill once more in the first few months of the new campaign.
The most recent reminder of that was provided last night. The winger scored an EFL Trophy goal against League Two side Barrow, as shown in a video from Sky Sports, with a wonderful curling effort into the top corner from 25 yards out.
Musialowksi poised for the Reds’ opportunity
For Klopp, Musialowski’s goal last night was the ideal preamble to tomorrow’s game in Toulouse.
Ben Doak has only recently resumed training following an injury, so there might be a brief opportunity for him at this time.
There is nothing more the Pole could be doing right now. He’s in excellent form, having scored two goals and provided two assists in two EFL Trophy games and three goals and one assist in five Premier League 2 games.
It seems as though it will never happen if not now for Musialowski and Liverpool.
That would be a true shame following the previous couple of years of intense hype. His tenure with the Reds will end because of his contract, which expires in the summer.
Naturally, nobody is entitled to a Liverpool match. Klopp and his coaches will have their reasons if a senior debut never materialises. However, Musialowski, who recently turned 20, at least merits a chance.
Liverpool will undoubtedly advance to the Europa League knockout stages after winning all three of their opening round matches this season. So why not try again with this young man tomorrow?
It’s possible that the Reds are hiding a fresh talent from them. It’s impossible to know if you don’t try. Jurgen, try your hand at Mateusz!
