Lewis Hamilton’s Touchdown: Celebrating STEM Excellence at Mulberry School
Lewis Hamilton went to observe firsthand this week how the Accelerate 25 partnership between Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix and the Mulberry Schools Trust is empowering children from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in STEM at the Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets, London.
STEM education aims to prepare elementary and secondary students for careers in science, technology, engineering, and maths as well as for postsecondary education.
Hamilton’s visit included a number of experiential STEM activities, such as learning robotics code in a class and taking part in an immersive arts event that exhibited the students’ technical proficiency in digital and production arts.
After learning in the classroom, the kids were excited to demonstrate their Racetrack Garage and their Greenpower Trust cars to the seven-time world champion.
While Lewis was touring the school, the students also had a chance to ask him questions and solicit his opinion.
The British said, “It was a privilege to meet so many driven and bright kids and to witness the groundbreaking work that the Mulberry Schools Trust and our team are doing to encourage and support young engineers and bring more diversity to motorsport.”
“I hope the students never give up on themselves and go out and prove to the rest of the world just how amazing they are.”
