Bayer Leverkusen’s Winter Wishlist as Transfer Window Looms
According to Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen is starting to be ready for the departure of striker Victor Boniface and may look to the market for an additional attacker as they prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations at the start of 2024.
Patrik Schick, Boniface’s backup, is just getting back from an injury. Even though his few appearances have been productive, it could be asking too much to depend too much on him to be Leverkusen’s primary striker come January.
Because of his history of injuries over the last two seasons, it is currently deemed too risky to rely solely on the Czech international.
Leverkusen plans to sign an attacker who can play as a striker in the winter transfer window in order to relieve Schick of some of the pressure. This means that their playing time won’t be restricted as soon as Boniface returns from the AFCON. The new attacker, who has also qualified for Nigeria and may go to the AFCON, can then take Nathan Tella’s place.
