StadiumPosts has been informed that Manchester City is considering making a summer bid for Pedro Porro in an attempt to find a long-term successor for Kyle Walker.
Under Ange Postecoglou, Porro has been one of Spurs’ most impressive players this year.
Throughout the current Premier League season, the 24-year-old has started 19 of the 20 games for the north London club and has seven assists.
Some of Europe’s top teams have taken notice of his impressive performances. Tottenham News previously reported that Real Madrid and Barcelona were interested in the defender. Now, a source close to Tottenham News has disclosed that Manchester City is considering replacing Walker with Porro this summer.
Walker was acquired by City from Spurs in 2017 for an initial payment of £45 million. The 33-year-old right-back is already making plans for life without him, and when the summer transfer market opens in June, City may try to re-sign Porro in order to raid Spurs once more in that area.
According to insiders, a transfer would be “terribly hard” for Porro to pass down, which may make a move even more alluring for the defender and Pep Guardiola. This information was obtained by StadiumPosts.
Porro was previously signed by Manchester City back in 2019, but he struggled to establish himself in the first team at the Etihad Stadium. In 2022, he signed a permanent contract for Sporting CP, and in January 2023, he signed a £39 million deal to join Spurs (Sky Sports News, 1 February 2023).
