Manchester United’s internal negotiations to recruit Jonathan David, a striker for Lille, have begun.
Several teams are presently after the Canadian striker, and Aston Villa is one of them.
With the third-most goals scored in France last season, only behind Kylian Mbappe and Alexander Lacazette, David has demonstrated his deadly ability in front of goal.
90min (h/t Express) claims that Man United had talked about potentially signing the 23-year-old striker.
The Canadian striker has made 243 appearances for the team, scoring 105 goals and dishing out 30 assists. In every other game, that would be a goal contribution. Someone with such production and quantity is needed by United in their offensive.
After 15 games this season, Rasmus Hojlund has only managed to score one goal in the Premier League. The Red Devils are keen to have someone upfront who can help Hojlund develop into a better player while also taking up the task of scoring goals.
In order to make way for new players, who may be signed in January or the summer, Man United is now trying to unload players. Jadon Sancho already left the team and signed a loan to join Borussia Dortmund. Another player who is supposedly leaving the team and joining Sevilla is Hannibal Mejbri.
David will also find the summer to be crucial because his contract expires in 2025. Lille believes the teenage striker is worth approximately £43 million, and they would be willing to sell him for that amount.
