Ryan Garcia has stated that, in spite of “a lot of confusion,” he will square off against Rolando “Rolly” Romero on April 20 on DAZN pay-per-view. The fight’s location and ticket information will be revealed “soon.”
Garcia stated on social media, “It’s time to go into battle again.” “I know that there has been a great deal of confusion, but this war is taking place. I’m glad to make this announcement. Don’t worry, everyone will post this shortly.
Along with his post on X and Instagram, Garcia also shared a fan art poster.
After Garcia, 25, defeated Oscar Duarte in December, he called out Romero, 28, the WBA 140-pound champion.
Everything about it has been a mess ever since.
Shortly afterward, Garcia (24-1, 20 KO) focused on WBC champion Devin Haney before sidestepping Haney to return attention to Romero (15-1, 13 KO).
Romero declared he will instead defend his title against Isaac Cruz on a Premier Boxing Champions card last week, following an expletives-filled tirade against Garcia, Oscar De La Hoya, and DAZN.
Although Ryan has flirted with fighting Haney over the previous six weeks, it’s quite obvious that his attention has been on Romero, regardless of whether Garcia’s “announcement” is legitimate or not.
Once more, this can be meaningless. Alternatively, it might all be an attempt to generate free early publicity for the bout and inflate a rivalry before it’s even formally announced. Whatever it is, it won’t be long until we find out.
