Robert Lewandowski apologises to Xavi Hernandez twice following resignation
The news that Xavi Hernandez will be leaving in the summer seems to have deeply disturbed a few of the Barcelona players. For some veterans, his departure was not the solution, even though there were rumors that some were dissatisfied with his coaching.
In his first training session following the news, Xavi was reportedly asked by Sergi Roberto to reevaluate his choice, according to many reports. Robert Lewandowski reportedly requested Xavi to reconsider both on Monday and during that meeting, according to RAC1 (via MD).
Lewandowski perceives the exit as a personal setback and is upset by it. He visited Xavi at home yesterday before hosting a team-building lunch for the entire Barcelona team, except the coaching staff. He expressed regret for the players’ poor play this season once more and made a suggestion that he ought to stay by trying to persuade him that the players were more to blame for Barcelona’s shortcomings than he was.
Xavi, who undoubtedly believes he is doing the best for the team, is relieved that the pressure will lessen in the upcoming months, but there is no indication that he is doing so. Lewandowski reportedly felt that Xavi was not leading them in the correct path with his tactical choices this season, but it appears that he has since had an epiphany.
