Diogo Dalot is back in the starting line-up for Manchester United, and he produced a huge block in the team’s victory over West Ham last weekend
Diogo Dalot, a defender for Manchester United, feels that he is playing at his best right now that he is back in the starting lineup.
After receiving a new five-year contract at Old Trafford in May, Dalot has been praised for his performances and has started the last seven games across all competitions.
The 24-year-old stopped West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen with a great challenge last weekend, and his contribution to the current uptick in performance has been crucial.
Although Dalot started on the other side against Tottenham, Aaron Wan-Bissaka played at left-back before suffering an injury that has kept him out of action.
Dalot has asserted that he is at the peak of his career and is presently edging Wan-Bissaka in the competition for the right-back position.
Dalot said to club media, “Probably, yes.” “Well, it’s challenging to qualify something if the outcomes aren’t in. You probably wouldn’t perceive it the same way if you were winning every game, in my opinion.
But the outcomes are starting to show. I believe that the effort we have been making in the past is beginning to pay off. In the latter half of the season, we are beginning to reap the benefits.
“We acknowledge that things didn’t go as planned when we first started, but we’re hoping to turn things around over the next few months. Of course, I’m also striving to contribute my utmost on an individual basis to the team.
Naturally, I make every effort to [be consistent] and make myself available to the management at all times. Fortunately, I’ve been able to attend every game. That brings me one step closer to being able to play games.
“After that, all you have to do is give it your all and strive to play the games as consistently as you can when you get the chance. I’m content with my current playing style.
Regarding his challenge on Bowen last weekend, Dalot was also questioned. The full-back raced back to make an important block that seemed to keep Bowen from scoring.
Dalot replied, “Just trying to reach him,” when someone asked him what was on his mind. “I am aware that he had a great opportunity to score, clear of the keeper. I simply tried to get there as quickly as I could by using my speed. After that, I simply launched myself in an attempt to make contact with the ball.
