Although they are unlikely to be out of the lineup for very long, Alisson and Joe Gomez have added themselves to Liverpool’s long list of absences for this afternoon’s visit from Burnley.
In an attempt to bounce back with a victory over relegation prospects, Jurgen Klopp has made five changes to his starting lineup from the 3-1 loss at Arsenal.
Three of those are enforced; in place of Alisson, Gomez, and Ibrahima Konate are Caoimhin Kelleher, Andy Robertson, and Jarell Quansah.
Alisson and Gomez are out of the picture owing to illness, the club has revealed, although Konate is absent due to suspension.
This occurred after Klopp disclosed during the team’s pre-game news conference that Gomez had already skipped practice due to the virus.
He informed reporters on Friday, “It’s not cool at all that we have to see who is available because we’re fighting with a little bit of flu in the squad.”
“But we’ll have 11 players in the end, and we’ll go for it.”

Kelleher, who has now made more appearances this season than the previous two combined, is making his third start in the Premier League of the year and his 13th overall.
While Gomez has had a mostly flawless season, he will miss his first Liverpool game since the team’s 3-0 victory over Brentford in November.
Having started off the bench against Norwich, Chelsea, and Arsenal, Robertson’s first start following a long-term shoulder injury is made possible by his absence.
Additionally, Wataru Endo and Darwin Nunez return to the starting lineup, replacing Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo, who both had difficult games the previous weekend.
