This season, Phil Foden has been outstanding. He has talked about his role on the team and what it means without Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland
Phil Foden, an England midfielder, feels he’s “playing my best football” following his eight goals in ten appearances. He wants to win a treble with Manchester City for the second time in a row. After an injury sidelined Kevin De Bruyne for a number of games in the first half of the season, Foden elevated his game.
Foden’s performance hasn’t decreased even with De Bruyne returning to action. Alongside De Bruyne, Foden performed admirably in Tuesday’s Champions League triumph over FC Copenhagen, netting his eighth goal in ten encounters.
“I think it’s the most run of games that I’ve played in a City shirt consistently,” Foden remarked. “I’m happy with my current form, which includes scoring regularly and doing everything in my power to support the squad. Every game, that’s what I want to keep doing. In a City shirt, I think I’m playing my best football.”
Ever since he was in City’s youth ranks, Foden has been considered a fantastic player. More than six years had passed since his senior year.
Foden believed it was his moment to take the pitch when he saw star attacker Erling Haaland join De Bruyne on the sidelines in December.
Foden, who scored a hat-trick in the Premier League victory at Brentford last week, added, “I think I had to.” “They are two of our biggest players and were essential to our treble-winning team last year. I had to take charge at this point.”
With their latest triumph in Copenhagen, City extended their winning run to 11 matches with a 3-1 victory. They are the favourites to retain the three main titles they won the previous season, and Foden is sure they still have what it takes to win.
Foden commented: “We’re showing that we’re still determined and playing the same football as last year and still wanting to win all the games. Hopefully that continues and we don’t drop our level or form.
“We’re focused. It’s a pleasure to be a member of this team since we support one another. I glance around the dressing room and I still see the desire and hunger.”
When England manager Gareth Southgate gave Foden a more expansive role, it created a national conversation since he has been outspoken about appreciating his prominent role on the pitch.
