Information has been released regarding the Red Bull RB20 shakedown, including when the first upgrades will be available.
The RB20 shakedown proceeded as planned, according to former Red Bull driver David Coulthard, who also confirmed they only ran a “launch iteration” of the vehicle.
Two days prior to the formal launch, Red Bull finished testing the RB20, its 2024 F1 competitor, at Silverstone.
The Milton Keynes team was the tenth and last to reveal their new vehicle, and they garnered the most attention for their aggressive, Mercedes-like design choices.
He discussed Red Bull’s shakedown with the official Formula One website. It just works as you would anticipate under those circumstances; there are no surprises.
“I believe that the technical team was satisfied with the results they were obtaining regarding the cooling and load sensors, among other things.”
Red Bull is expected to introduce many new components for the first test and possibly more for the season-opener in Bahrain the following weekend, according to the Scotsman.
“Saturday qualifying and the race [at the first round] in Bahrain on Sunday are the only things that matter, even if you went out and thought the car was amazing in a shakedown,” he continued.
This is a launch iteration, and improvements are anticipated to alter performance, balance, and lap time. Tests will continue until the very end, and an upgrade may even arrive on Friday of the Bahrain race.
Red Bull won 21 of the 22 races in 2023, having an incredible campaign.
The race behind Red Bull frequently alternated between four teams, with Ferrari being the only team to prevent them from being unbeatable throughout the entire season.
Coulthard makes an argument for Ferrari, Mercedes, and McLaren, saying he is unclear of which team will pose the most threat to Red Bull.
“You’ve got to think Ferrari had a strong car last year in terms of single-lap pace, but I don’t have a crystal ball,” he said.
They are a serious contender if they are able to address the issue that was hindering their racing pace.
“Towards the end of the year, Mercedes was making significant progress. McLaren has seen tremendous growth over the course of the year, finishing near the bottom of the grid in Bahrain and almost at the front in Abu Dhabi.
