Although Arda Guler, a promising young player for Real Madrid, completed his dream transfer from Fenerbahce last summer, his debut season has not been ideal. He made his debut in January after recuperating from many injuries for six months, however, he has only played for fewer than 100 minutes.
Despite Carlo Ancelotti’s pleas for patience, the eighteen-year-old has not been given the opportunity that he would have liked. He is currently following a fitness regimen to improve his physical preparation for the La Liga competition, and while he still has a ways to go, he is making progress. According to Diario AS, Guler was eager to join Los Blancos in 2024 or go on loan this past summer to further his growth.
Before the transaction was finalized, Guler personally turned down this option. He also made a firm decision to stay put during his first press conference, informing the reporters he was not moving anywhere. Real Madrid, on the other hand, agreed to his demands because they did not want to pass on a talent who they still think has the potential to be a global star.
But as of late, reports have indicated that Guler is becoming more and more of a thing this summer, at least from the perspective of the club. With the signings of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick Felipe in the summer, his lack of opportunities should not significantly improve the next season, assuming all goes well. Hence, Guler will need to think about taking a little trip outside of Valdebebas to obtain game time.
Theoretically, Guler might play from the right or behind the forwards, although Brahim Diaz, Luka Modric, and Rodrygo Goes are all more than capable of filling this role. He finds himself on the outside looking in due to the fierce rivalry for midfield spots, at any rate.
