Thomas Tuchel will not be returning to Bayern Munich after the current campaign, the team announced on Wednesday.
After this season, we have decided to sever our professional partnership. To ensure maximum success up to that point, I will undoubtedly keep working as hard as I can with my coaching staff,” Tuchel stated in a statement.
“FC Bayern Munich and head coach Thomas Tuchel have jointly decided to end their working relationship, which was originally set to run until 30 June 2025, on 30 June 2024,” Bayern Munich announced.
After Julian Nagelsmann was fired as head coach last year, the 50-year-old German manager took his position.
Tuchel managed Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Mainz 05, and Borussia Dortmund before joining Bayern Munich.
In 2019 and 2020, he helped Paris Saint-Germain win the French league twice in a row.
Paris Saint-Germain made it to the 2020 Champions League final in Lisbon under Tuchel’s leadership, but they fell short against Bayern Munich.
Chelsea won the FIFA Club World Cup, Super Cup, and UEFA Champions League under Tuchel’s leadership.
Bayern Munich is eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen in second place in the UEFA club standings, having collected 50 points.
The Bavarians’ Champions League last-16 first-leg meeting against Lazio ended in a close loss last week.
