Kevin De Bruyne is expected to be included in the Manchester City team that plays Bournemouth this weekend, according to manager Pep Guardiola.
De Bruyne was benched but did not play for City in their midweek victory over Brentford; however, Guardiola intends to have him in the starting lineup for the south coast match that kicks off at teatime on Saturday.
During his press conference before the game, the City manager stated: “He’s fine – not hurt. He is superior. I’m not sure if he’s 100%, but we made the right choice by not taking a chance. Regardless of the outcome, people would have questioned why he didn’t play. He didn’t feel at ease.
“At 16:00, we have training. He didn’t practice the day following the game, and since everyone was off yesterday, he trained alone. We’ll evaluate today. He will undoubtedly travel.
Josko Gvardiol and Jack Grealish, however, will not play at Bournemouth. After the trip to Brentford earlier this month, Guardiola has not appeared in any games. Due to a muscle ailment, Grealish is not available. The City manager anticipates having the two back shortly. “This week no, but they are closer,” Guardiola continued. I have to talk to the doctors. I’m not sure. I’ll let you know if I find out.”
