Raheem Sterling is self-assured ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup match against Liverpool.
Against Manchester City last week, Chelsea displayed some exquisite football.
At the Etihad Stadium, one of the hardest games on the Premier League schedule, the London Blues and City squared off on the field.
Manchester City was taken aback by Mauricio Pochettino’s vertical tactics more than once. Following that City opener, Nikolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling had opportunities to end the game. In the end, Rodri’s deflected shot to equalize the score for Chelsea came after Chelsea was unable to stop Manchester City from scoring.
Sunday at Wembley Stadium is a big day.
Chelsea’s performance this year has been subpar. They are now ranked tenth in the Premier League standings due to their patchy play throughout the season.
They still have a chance to take home a title, though. Mauricio Pochettino can give the team a boost in his debut season at Stamford Bridge by winning the League Cup.
Liverpool will be pursued by Chelsea following their strong showing against Manchester City. They’ll be more confident going into Wembley, having learned from that City match. They can defeat Liverpool.
Raheem Sterling hopes the team will move on with greater confidence thanks to that performance.
We were unfortunate not to win against City since I wanted to prove myself to them. Since we’re a young group, that performance will help us become more confident in the future. However, I’ve always maintained that these are the difficulties we must rise to. We have shown ourselves this season against some of the top four teams. Although the away match against Liverpool was undoubtedly disappointing, we have proven ourselves against Tottenham, Arsenal, and City, therefore we must continue to improve.
The Blues will be adamant in demonstrating that their January 31 performance at Anfield was not representative of who they are. When the team plays the Reds on Sunday, according to Raheem Sterling, they are hurt and seeking retribution.
The loss against Liverpool hurt, for sure. This time we’ll aim to perform much better. The most crucial thing is to strive for trophy competition as we get better. And I’m excited about the fantastic opportunity we have this week to do that.
