One player stood out as Real Madrid’s group training sessions at the Valdebebas today continued to prepare for their match against Sevilla on Sunday.
Journalist Melchor Ruiz reports that experienced striker Joselu is doubtful for the Santiago Bernabeu match against Sevilla since he did not practice with the rest of the team today.
What’s going on with Joselu?
Joselu has been missing training due to an ankle problem, as was already reported earlier this week. Still, it was always thought that he would heal in time for Sunday’s visit from the Andalusian outfit.
But rather than exercising with the team today, the seasoned center striker worked alone within Valdebebas’ facilities, raising questions over his availability for the match this weekend.
Despite not being a regular starter under Carlo Ancelotti, Joselu has been in fantastic form for Real Madrid. After 35 games, the Spaniard has 13 goals, tied for second place among Los Blancos’ top scorers this season.
The Espanyol loanee scored last week in the 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano, and his performance has persuaded the capital club of Spain to put him on a long-term contract.
Rudiger might come back.
Real Madrid is not without hope, though, since Antonio Rudiger finished practicing with the team and there is hope that he will be fit to play against Sevilla.
Jude Bellingham, 20, is scheduled to make a comeback against Valencia the following week after working out on the pitch by himself.
In addition to Dani Carvajal and Eduardo Camavinga being suspended, Eder Militao, Thibaut Courtois, and David Alaba are also out of the game on Sunday.
