Wayne Rooney has stated that he would be willing to work as Manchester City’s assistant coach if given the opportunity. Pep Guardiola has responded to this.
Wayne Rooney stated that he would be open to joining Guardiola’s coaching staff at City during a recent episode of Stick To Football.
The Spaniard, nevertheless, has since expressed his opinions on what the former Manchester United striker said.
Guardiola replies to Rooney’s remarks
When asked about Rooney’s remarks about being open to a possible coaching position at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola had this to say during Friday’s news conference.
“He can come any time; he is more than welcome,” he stated. He is essential for our city, of course, but he is also United and a Red Devil, so it’s wonderful for all of us.
As one of the best athletes in the history of this nation, Wayne Rooney’s comments to all of us are appreciated. That is derived from what he stated after working for so long. He is aware. He was with United there.
“Wayne Rooney, he only won one Premier League? Not in my opinion. He had great success. That implies that he is aware of the challenges involved in being present, which is why he is aware of them.
Rooney’s declaration that he would be open to joining City’s coaching staff demonstrates how much he respects and is impressed by Guardiola’s work there.
Given his remarkable achievements at United throughout his playing career, it’s clear that Rooney understands what it takes to be a top competitor.
But, it doesn’t seem likely to us that the former England captain would be a hugely helpful addition to Guardiola’s coaching staff after being fired from his previous managerial position at Birmingham City after just 15 games, winning just two of them.
