The announcement that Bayern Munich and head coach Thomas Tuchel would part ways at the end of the season shouldn’t have come as a huge surprise given the team’s recent performance, the rumours of internal strife between the players and staff, and the disagreements on the club’s future.
Club great Thomas Müller stated that he is focused on getting Bayern Munich back on the winning track even after the team’s 2-1 victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday. Müller acknowledged that the situation is not changing.
It is what it is right now. Right now, everybody’s getting along just well. Müller stated, “We will exert every effort to correct the games’ trajectory,” as reported by Maximilian Koch of Abendzeitung.
Harry Kane, who scored both of the team’s goals, thinks that Tuchel’s firing served as a wake-up call for the players.
“A choice was made by the club. It is our duty as players to demonstrate to the manager and the team that we are willing to give the entire season our all. As players, we were aware that our performances weren’t at their best. You can’t merely discuss it while sitting there. Kane stated on Sky Sports UK that “you have to fight and work hard at every moment and that’s what we did today.”
Manuel Neuer bemoaned the lack of advancement for all those concerned.
“It hurts that we were unable to construct anything. I’m sorry for the coaching staff as well. We all made mistakes together in the end. Neuer said to RanSport’s Martin Volkmar, “I think you don’t always have to look at the teacher when you get bad grades”.
Eric Dier, meanwhile, sympathised with Tuchel, who had advocated for the center-back to be sent to Germany.
It is disheartening. He is the one who brought me here, and we get along well. That being said, it’s unfortunate because he’s an excellent coach. The results don’t lie—we haven’t performed well enough as a team over the last few weeks. We now need to wrap up the season as best we can,” Dier said to Kerry Hau of Sky Sport Germany.
