Big E has selected the Intercontinental Champion of the Future.
All good things must come to an end, as the adage goes. Gunther has maintained his record-breaking reign as Intercontinental Champion after more than 600 days in the title. Not only that but since being formally brought up to the main roster, The Ring General has not been pinned or filed. Whoever wins that first fight against Gunther will have already cemented his legacy. That’s what makes him unique. Which Superstar—according to Big E—has already won the Intercontinental Championship?
The former world champion told WhatCulture that changes in circumstances have caused plans to alter, but he still hopes to see Chad Gable wrap out his narrative at WrestleMania:
Well, it’s clear that they had different plans for Mania when it came to the WWE Intercontinental Title—we’ve all read about it, but the narrative of Chad Gable, sure. I adore Chad Gable so much. I have always thought Chad Gable was great. Beyond the arena, an amazing, outstanding man. Putting all of that aside, he offers something unique to the ring. I recall we wrestled, and I weighed more than 300 pounds at the time, with that rolling German. It amazes me how easily he can make me feel better.
His physical prowess, strength, experience in amateur wrestling, and most recently, his interaction with fans are all noteworthy. His tale is graphic. witnessing the events involving his daughter at ringside, his family, and everything else. I simply thought that the story’s ending left too much room for interpretation. That’s my choice, that’s who I want to see because I didn’t want this to be the end for Chad Gable in his quest to unseat GUNTHER.
Big E went on to say that the narrative between Gunther and Gable is rather simple and that the major moments should be reserved for the full-time competitors:
I believe that at WrestleMania, we frequently search for huge matchups and big attractions. However, occasionally, the biggest fights feature individuals who are stalwarts on the roster and don’t always have to be part-timers. In the case of GUNTHER vs. Gable, for example, the alliteration alone is helpful. Thus, yes, I would be thrilled to see Chad succeed and win. That would be a tremendous moment at WrestleMania, in my opinion.
It’s a narrative of David vs Goliath in many respects. The narrative revolves around Gable, an underappreciated talent who was given the chance to shine. It’s amazing to watch what he accomplished with Maxxine (Dupri) and (Akira) Tozawa, and it’s also a lot of fun with Otis. He’s a guy, and I don’t think he’s ever had a singles gold in the organization. He deserves it, and I hope he gets the chance.
With his family there, Gable had previously challenged Gunther for the IC Title on the Raw program airing on September 4. The Alpha Academy head is yearning for one more chance, even though Gable would push The Ring General to the brink and fail.
Big E Jokingly Predicts a WrestleMania Match
The former World Champion fractured his neck in a horrible accident during a SmackDown episode in 2022, and he hasn’t wrestled since. Big E has not competed at WrestleMania since 2021, and it is still unclear when he will step back into the ring because he is rightfully putting his health first. Big E, who is still appearing in the media, suggested an unusual match for WrestleMania 40.
