The CEO of Shakhtar Donetsk has given Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, advice on how to maximize Mykhailo Mudryk’s potential.
Sergiy Palkin, CEO of Shakhtar, asserted that he still views the young Ukrainian winger as a “unique talent” and that he knows just how to bring out the most in him. Additionally, he recommended that Blues manager Jorge Pochettino give Mykhailo Mudryk more one-on-one time because it will improve his performance.
Palkin stated in an interview with beIN SPORTS: “I can tell you that, in my opinion, Mudryk is the world’s most gifted and distinctive player. I think you have to invest in Mudryk if you want to get the most out of him, as they say. These investments also don’t involve cash. The coaching staff’s effort is invested in getting to know him and working closely with him.
“As a young child, he switched from the English Premier League to the Ukrainian Championship. It’s an entirely separate universe with entirely distinct stages, and football is an entirely new game. I think he will come back three, four, or five times more if the coaching staff gives him some time.”
The 23-year-old, who left Ukraine in January 2023 for a whopping £89 million ($109 million) transfer price, never lived up to the expectations he set for himself as a player at Shakhtar, where in 44 games he scored 12 goals and created 17 assists.
Mudryk did not score a single goal in his first half a year at the west London club, and he has only scored three goals in 19 Premier League games this season.
During the January transfer window, the Ukraine international was linked to Bayern Munich; however, Chelsea rejected the move at the time. According to recent rumors, Arsenal, who lost the battle to sign him to Chelsea in the last transfer window, has renewed their interest in the player once more.
