A former teammate of Zinedine Zidane claims that the Frenchman has identified the only three clubs he would prefer to lead.
Although Zidane, 51, has not managed since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, he is still a highly sought-after talent, and Man United is interested in hiring him.
According to reports, Zidane United’s next permanent manager should be chosen by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who just bought a 27.7% share in the team.
Zidane’s former Real Madrid teammate disclosed the British billionaire’s three-club wishlist, so United could have to go elsewhere despite his intentions.
Speaking with Discovery+ about the Frenchman, former Danish celebrity Thomas Gravesen recalled their chat from two years ago.
“There are only three roles that Zidane would like to accept,” the man stated, recalling their conversation two years ago in Madrid.
And those are Madrid, Marseille, and the French group. He specifically said something to me while we were in Madrid two years ago.
I also inquired whether he would be open to training with me once more. There, he informed me that just those three had opportunities.
After that, Gravesen responded to the rumors that Zidane might join United at Old Trafford, saying it would be “very difficult to do something” with the present squad.
He went on, “I would say that he was prepared from the start and that the team he had in Madrid was fantastic.”
In the United, things are considerably different, and Ten Hag’s current squad makes things extremely difficult.
After ending his illustrious playing career in 2006 during the FIFA World Cup, Zidane has solely managed Madrid.
Julien Laurens, a French journalist, recently provided two reasons for his belief that the former Madrid manager would never choose to relocate to England.
Laurens stated to RMC Sport that he has always been told that his inability to speak English and his lack of desire to master the language has prevented him from joining the Premier League.
He probably doesn’t enjoy living in England either. He has expressed no interest in attending as a manager or player.
After starting his managerial career with Real Madrid’s B squad, the 51-year-old was elevated to the main team in 2016 and reappointed to the job in 2019.
Madrid won three Champions Leagues, two La Liga and Spanish Super Cup wins, as well as other significant team awards, thanks to Zidane’s extraordinary performance.
After Madrid lost the league title fight to Atletico on the last day of the season, Zidane’s second stint as manager in the Spanish capital ended in disappointment.
The France World Cup winner is being courted by United to come to Old Trafford in the summer because they think he can contribute to the team’s long-term success plan.
