Thanks to two goals from Haaland, City won their match on Tuesday in north London, moving two points clear of Arsenal and back to the top of the league.
On Sunday, the last day of the season, City will win the Premier League for the fourth time in a row if they defeat West Ham at home. This is a record in the top division of English football.
“Yes, amazing mindset,” Haaland said to City+. Play each game with attention, then unwind. We came here to compete, and we succeeded.
Six minutes into the second half, Haaland opened the score with a tap-in off a pass from Kevin De Bruyne. After Pedro Porro brought down Jeremy Doku, Haaland doubled City’s lead from the penalty spot.
Spurs, however, had a chance to draw even, but Stefan Ortega, the City backup custodian, made a great save to deny Son Heung-min when the South Korean was one one-on-one with him after Ederson was hurt in a challenge with Cristian Romero.
“The Spurs are an incredible team,” remarked Haaland. “Everyone is aware of their desire to perform constantly, and they deserve all the applause.
“Yes, it was very challenging, but we came here to try and win, and we did. I’m content with that being all I have.
We were perhaps a little anxious. Everyone experiences a wide range of emotions, so I believe that’s normal.
“It’s important to avoid overthinking, yet everyone is aware of the circumstances. Try to concentrate on your tasks and strive for victory.”
“Ortega man of the match…,” he continued. How do I put it? He’s amazing and such a nice guy, so I’m glad for him.”
