Prior to Sunday’s Premier League title match, Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has sent out a warning to both players and spectators.
This weekend, the Sky Blues have the opportunity to make history by becoming the first team to win the Premier League four times in a row. Manchester City needs to defeat West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium in order to capture its sixth title in seven years.
Erling Haaland’s two goals in the second half gave the Cityzens the victory they needed to take a significant step towards keeping their title on Tuesday night. It was their first Premier League victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The 23-year-old scored from close range to break the tie a few minutes into the second half. He then doubled the Blues’ lead in the 91st minute after Pedro Porro fouled Jeremy Doku.
In addition, Stefan Ortega, who came in for an injured Ederson for the fourth time this season, had a number of significant late saves, stopping Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski from close range.
Before the final weekend of games, Manchester City’s 0–2 triumph gave them a two-point lead over Arsenal in the Premier League title battle, putting Guardiola’s team in charge of their own fate.
In order to win the Premier League trophy, Manchester City had to defeat West Ham on the last day of the season in 2014. They have also experienced thrilling victories against Aston Villa and QPR on the final day of play.
Guardiola wasted no time in reminding players and supporters of the tough task that awaits Manchester City on Sunday, stating: “The hardest game isn’t the final one, the serve to win Wimbledon.
“We’ll play West Ham in the same manner on Sunday. The pressure will be felt by us. Aston Villa faced QPR a few seasons back with Sergio Aguero leading the team into the 93rd minute with 15 minutes remaining and down 2-0. It’s typical. For this reason, when we speak, we remark that everyone just needs to unwind and complete their tasks.
“We are aware of the goal of our game. There is tension since the opponent is so strong. We are aware of the difficulty because of this. Everyone arrives at the stadium and starts to clap.
Even though these games are harder, you still have to play them. After two days of preparation and one day off, we’ll try our hardest.
On Sunday, May 19, Manchester City will play their final Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium against West Ham at 16:00 BST. Arsenal will play Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
