The future of Mo Salah will be one of the biggest stories of the summer as Liverpool brace themselves for another big-money bid from Saudi Arabia.
Al-Ittihad reportedly showed interest in the Reds’ talisman and has not given up after their £150 million deal for the player was rejected last summer.
Salah’s current contract has just over a year left on it, and since there are no discussions about an extension, Liverpool might consider selling him if a sizable offer is made.
That is despite the Merseyside club’s official narrative, which states that Salah is content at Anfield and intends to stay for at least one more season.
But with 25 goals and 14 assists this season, he is Liverpool’s all-time leading Premier League scorer and will be very difficult to replace.
Al-Ittihad is reportedly debating whether to make a £100 million approach for Salah in the upcoming weeks. Former Reds defender Mark Lawrenson has now discussed his possible departure from the team.
Mo Salah “needs to switch clubs.”
Lawrenson stated in a recent interview that he believes Salah should be let go at this point if a highball price is made for him.
Lawrenson said, “I feel like Mohamed Salah is going to leave.”
Simply put, I believe that moving to Saudi Arabia would be the right decision for him. Since returning from the AFCON, he has changed, and by the end of the season, it was evident that he was a little irritated; otherwise, he didn’t appear like the same player.
In the given conditions, I believe I would accept £100 million from Liverpool if they were able to acquire him from the Saudi Pro League.
“Over the years, Salah has been fantastic for Liverpool, but it appears that he may need a change of clubs. Out of respect for him, I wouldn’t get in the way of that.”
As the new Liverpool manager, Arne Slot has a bright future ahead of him, and the decision of whether or not to keep Salah will undoubtedly be a hot topic of conversation in the upcoming months.
Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards, Liverpool’s recruitment chiefs, have already started looking for possible winger replacements, which may be a portent of things to come.
