By stating that he is content with his role at Newcastle United, Alexander Isak appears to have eliminated the possibility of moving to Arsenal.
Top European teams are expressing serious interest in the prolific Swede after he scored 25 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions during the 2023–24 season. It’s thought that his talent has won Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal over, as they look to add a striker this summer.
But it appears that Isak is happy where he is at with the Magpies and is not looking to relocate.
“I’m having fun here at Newcastle, and it’s important not to undervalue the best season of my career. Isak told Fotballskanalen, “I adore the city, the fans, and the team.
“I have no intention of leaving, therefore I won’t speculate about it [my future]. The topic has not come up in the club, and I have not been informed that I would need to buy anything.”
Conversations about Isak’s possible move grew louder when Manchester United defeated Manchester City in the FA Cup, taking Newcastle’s spot in Europe for the upcoming campaign. Given that Arsenal is a Champions League team, it was assumed that Isak would want to leave his impact on the international scene.
Isak, who cost Newcastle £63 million, became the club’s record acquisition when he transferred from Real Sociedad to St James’ Park in the summer of 2022. This past season, the 24-year-old surpassed England internationals Anthony Gordon and Callum Wilson to become the club’s top scorers.
Arsenal has already been strongly linked to Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney, and Benjamin Sesko; nevertheless, they may have to go elsewhere for a striker.
