Diogo Jota didn’t seem to be happy for the whole 90 minutes, despite the fact that Liverpool supporters were thrilled to watch their team beat Brentford.
“It was interesting to see Jota’s reactions to those two speculative digs from Tsimikas and Gakpo in quick succession,” wrote Peter Smith for Sky Sports’ live blog of our encounter. When he was in a favourable position, he wasn’t impressed by the first one, and he wasn’t pleased to see the second crack either!
“I think he’s probably right; Liverpool needs to be a little more patient in their build-up.”
This was close to the beginning of the second half of the game, and with the Reds leading 1-0 at the moment, it was critical that we try to extend our lead.
It seems that at the moment, Kostas Tsimikas and Cody Gakpo’s wayward attempts at goal did not sit well with our No. 20.
It’s realistic to assume that his attitude would have considerably improved given that we went on to score twice more and that our Portuguese forward also got his name on the scoring sheet.
All of this simply demonstrates the former Wolves player’s exceptional winning mentality, and it is this win-at-all-costs mindset that will enable us to rack up as many points as we can and maintain pressure on the leaders of the league.
Although Jurgen Klopp’s team hasn’t quite found their best gear yet, we’re still a strong contender for the championship.
We should be able to remain at the top of the standings for the entirety of this season as long as the victories keep rolling in and the performances remain at this caliber.
